• how can I have my wifi and wired connection both active Ubuntu 18.04?

I just set up a local home network using WiFi. My internet, however, I
only access by wired connection. My problem seems to be that when I
engage the Wifi, the wired connection cuts off and vice versa. How can
I set this up for simultaneous connectivity? Thank you.

What do you have connected by wired connection and wifi connections

The Wifi connects to a separate router for access to the network in the network in the house; the wired connects to the FIOS internet router

Why are you using 2 routers? Remove the second router and connect wifi
through the fios router. The fios router should support wifi too. If you
use any static ip from the router, make sure they are outside the dhcp
    range of the router.

Do you use Network Manager or ConnMan?

If Connman you have to change (IIRC) /etc/connman/main.conf to allow
both at once. You should be able to enable both through Network Manager.

Perhaps the term Access Point should be substituted for router...for the inside network.
    I'm 99.9 that's what was meant.

One reason not to use the FiOS modem device's router and WIFi capabilities, is because
you have to pay extra for it each and every month.
