Voting is NOT a constitutional right while gun ownership is!! Dems just want to add criminals to their voting base along with welfare trash and illegal aliens.

may 5 2021 CNN)New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill expanding felon voting rights on Tuesday, according to the state legislature, allowing for people on parole in the state to be eligible to vote as soon as they leave prison.

The law codifies a 2018 executive order that allowed for Cuomo to individually pardon parolees. According to the bill text, Department of Corrections officials are required to provide a voter registration form as the felon is leaving the facility. Previously, parolees would have to wait
a period of four to six weeks to receive a pardon and then must register
    to vote on their own.

The law goes into effect immediately, although some portions are delayed until 120 days after its signing, according to the bill text. The New York legislature passed the bill in April.

I don't think Theodore Roosevelt had this in his "progressive" mind.

Um ... no. Not at all. The older "liberals" were still
    sensible, grounded in reality.

Todays, well, they have more nefarious ends in mind.

It IS possible to frame the felon/vote thing in 'racist'
terms ... a gazillion "blacks" convicted JUST to keep
them from voting. However that's pretty next-level,
complicated. I think lots of "blacks" are convicted
just because they won't follow the laws, not because
    of any "greater plan".

As to whether "blacks" SHOULD follow White Mans Law
to the letter, or even CAN given typical circumstances,
    that's another thread entirely.

As for NYC/NY-State ... DOOMED. It's too late to fix it.
Best intentions yeilded the typical result. The mass exodus
of people, biz, money continues apace. In the end NYC
will more closely resemble something out of "Escape From".
Texas and Florida will be the new centers of the US economy.
