When a squad of Russian soldiers kills his family in
retaliation for his role in a top-secret op, Sr. Chief John
Kelly (Michael B. Jordan) pursues the assassins at all costs.
Joining forces with a fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a
shadowy CIA agent (Jamie Bell), Kelly's mission unwittingly
exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and
Russia in an all-out war. Torn between personal honor and
loyalty to his country, Kelly must fight his enemies without
remorse if he hopes to avert disaster and reveal the powerful
    figures behind the conspiracy.

The explosive origin story of action hero John Clark, one of
the most popular characters in author Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
universe, Without Remorse is directed by acclaimed filmmaker
Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Gomorrah,
    ZeroZeroZero).

The cast also includes Jamie Bell (Jumper), Luke Mitchell
(Blindspot), Cam Gigandet (Ice), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen &
Slim), Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life), Brett Gelman
(Stranger Things), Jack Kesy (Claws), Colman Domingo (Fear
the Walking Dead), Lauren London (ATL), Todd Lasance
    (Spartacus), and Guy Pearce (Memento).

The movie is produced by Jordan, Akiva Goldsman
(Transformers), Josh Appelbaum, and Andre Nemec.

John Clark has appeared in a number of Tom Clancy's novels
dating back to 1988's The Cardinal and the Kremlin, as the
darker side of the Jack Ryan character who works primarily in
the field and typically operates by his own personal brand of
ethics. The character was played by Willem Dafoe in Clear and
Present Danger, starring Harrison Ford, and by Liev Schreiber
in The Sum of All Fears starring Ben Affleck.

This movie apparently bears no relation whatsoever to the plot of Clancy's
book and it's full of race-changed characters that nevertheless aren't
cultural appropriation because the change goes white-->black.

Look like someone in Hollywood waived cash under Tom Clancy's widow's nose to buy the rights to use this character and story. They did the same thing to Janet Asimov with I, ROBOT.

    [sigh]

Well "I, Robot" was an OK movie, and Asimovian in spirit. Of course that doesn't mean this will turn out well.
