A Quiet Place Part II moves up to Memorial Day weekend
    ------------------------------------------------------
Actor-director John Krasinski took to Twitter to confirm that
Paramount Pictures has officially changed the release date
for their long-delayed horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II.
Originally scheduled for a September 17, 2021 release, the
Emily Blunt-led sequel will now hit the theaters several
months earlier on May 28, just in time for Memorial Day
weekend. It was also previously confirmed that the sequel
will officially be available for streaming on Paramount+ for
45 days after its theatrical release.

The announcement comes on heels of Universal Pictures
delaying Vin Diesel's F9: The Fast Saga for the fourth time
by pushing its release date from May 28 to June 25. The new
release date will see A Quiet Place Part II going up against
another high-profile project in the form of Disney's
live-action feature Cruella which is being led by Oscar
winners Emma Stone and Emma Thompson.

In A Quiet Place: Part II, following the deadly events at
home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds,
Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world
as they continue their fight for survival in silence.
Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize
that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only
threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

Emily Blunt is returning for A Quiet Place Part II alongside
cast members Noah Jupe (Suburbicon, Wonder) and Millicent
Simmonds (Wonderstruck), with John Krasinski set to write,
and direct again. It was recently revealed in the film's
Super Bowl spot that Krasinski will reprise his role as Lee
in the flashback scenes. Golden Globe nominee Cillian Murphy
(Breakfast on Pluto) and Djimon Hounsou will also star in
    the sequel.

A Quiet Place was from a spec script by Bryan Woods and
Scott Beck which was rewritten by Krasinski. It opened in
theaters in April of 2018 and grossed over $334 million
worldwide on a $17 million dollar budget.

A Quiet Place: Part II is produced by Krasinski and Michael
Bay (Transformers) along with Bay's Platinum Dunes partners
Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (Ouija, The Purge, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre). The sequel is executive produced by
Allyson Seeger, Joann Perritano, and Aaron Janus.

Must have been a slow period in May 2018 for that middling horror movie
to do so well, maybe the virus will come to their rescue in May 2021.
