In the Earth is expected to deliver a timely story set in a world
that searches for a cure to a disastrous virus as a scientist and
park scout venture deep in the forest for a routine equipment run.
Through the night, their journey becomes a terrifying voyage
through the heart of darkness, the forest coming to life around
    them.

The English filmmaker is no stranger to the horror genre as he was
first known for his breakout works on psychological horror films
such as Kill List, A Field in England and a segment of The ABCs of
Death. The film stars Joel Fry (Yesterday, Game of Thrones),
Ellora Torchia (The Split, Midsommar), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel
Blake) and BAFTA Award Winner Reece Shearsmith (Inside No. 9,
    Psychoville).

In the Earth is written and directed by Wheatley, with Andy Starke
producing for Wheatley and Starke's Rook Films alongside Tom Quinn
and Jeff Deutchman, who executive produced on behalf of NEON. The
film is set to hit theaters on April 23.

This project marks Wheatley's latest film following last year's
film adaptation of Rebecca. He is currently working on the upcoming
sequel of Jason Statham's The Meg which will be based on second
book of Steve Alten's novel series titled The Trench.
